London & Jordan 2nd May 2024 – IrisGuard has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by enabling the transfer of humanitarian cash assistance to a mobile wallet via their cutting-edge iris recognition technology, conducted at Jordan Post in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
A trusted and long-established provider to UN agencies, INGOs, banks and governments, IrisGuard considers flexibility of modalities and uniformity of access a key to success in this complex area of humanitarian aid delivery, collaborating with merchants and designing their systems to be seamlessly integrated with a range of financial and retail systems.
Specifically optimized to serve the un and under banked, their integrated software and hardware payment platform enables humanitarian actors, Governments, and private corporations to evolve their existing cash-based transfer schemes (CBI and CVA) to include money/mobile wallets and apps for fast transfer of humanitarian relief. This is distributed through a network of approved and integrated cash-out FSPs including post offices, banks, money exchangers and supermarkets.
This collaboration between IrisGuard, Jordan Post and UNHCR underscores their combined commitment to vulnerable populations including refugees, IDPs, migrants and socially needy to enable access to financial services with unprecedented ease.
Jordan Post Company’s Chairman Sami Al-Dawood commented, "I am thrilled to announce our integration with IrisGuard's EyePay® Network and UWallet, as leveraging these innovative solutions will empower our customers with security, convenience and speed. These partnerships represent a significant leap forward in the landscape of financial technology, ensuring a trusted and transparent method of utilising mobile wallets for cash transfers, triggering transactions with 100% accuracy thanks to the iris system.”
Key features include a uniform portal with live reporting and distribution monitoring, pre-approved exchange rates and the ability to consolidate all FSP transactions from different agents in real-time. Combining a mobile wallet with iris recognition strengthens both approaches, mitigates the limits and challenges of a cash transfer program, whilst enhancing mobile wallet security.
Simon Reed, Deputy Director at IrisGuard commented, "As a GSMA member and global winner of their tech4Good award in 2021 we are delighted to bring this expertise to enable, for the first time, cash loading to a wallet, solely triggered by iris recognition. This not just transforms the way transactions are processed but also empowers individuals and communities enabling easy access to financial services”. "IrisGuard is therefore delighted to build upon their six-year partnership with Jordan Post deploying the EyePay® Network iris payment platform in over 120 locations across the country".
IrisGuard remains at the forefront of driving innovation in finance, banking, governmental and humanitarian sectors, eliminating the need for traditional identification methods.
Its latest deployments include the Jordanian government Sanad services citizen app activation in partnership with MODEE (Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship) Jordan for over 2m people and transforming migrant worker salary payments with Cairo Amman Bank Jordan.
IrisGuard’s solutions enhance digital inclusion for millions of refugees, citizens and migrant workers traditionally excluded from the formal financial ecosystems.
